Hi I'm looking to apply for my first time waiver ( I was convicted of a drug trafficking charge). I have a simple question, I understand it's easier to apply yourself but Id like to use a lawyer for the first time would it make sense to use a criminal lawyer or immigration lawyer? I'm having trouble finding one in my city that list the waiver as a service they provide(waterloo,Ontario). Also if anyone has used a lawyer and doesn't mind answering how much they spent to use their services?
Thank you
And if you run into something more complicated, here is an excellent resource maintained by a Buffalo-area immigration attorney as well.
In fact, I have used some of the resources there to help with the finer points of preparing my own waiver application.

If you feel you need the services of a lawyer you probably should use an immigration attorney, as they would have the background knowledge where it pertains to U.S. immigration law.
Personally, though, I would also recommend talking to the John Howard Society (the Kitchener office in your case) as they are continuously updated and attuned to helping people through waivers and record suspensions on a fairly regular basis.
