How long did it take to receive a response from ARO?

Vancity Girlposted 6 years ago

I sent my waiver around the beginning of Jan. Two days ago, I sent an email regarding the status of my waiver. I included all the information needed, so I know that's not an issue. I am just curious as to how fast people got emailed back.
Thanks!

5th waiver guy

1992-FRAUD
1993-FRAUD OVER $1000
1993-FRAUD UNDER $1000
1993- FRAUD OVER $1000

Really fast guy
1995 (1) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $1000 (2) Fraud Under $5000

So old stuff. But note the fast guy who was doing the waiver for the first time handed his waiver in AFTER the shutdown and still got it faster. The client who I has been a client since 1998 handed it in just before. I bet when they came back they grabbed a bunch of waivers that were new and did them right away, and didn't just put them in line with everyone else.

That's quite the quick turnaround.

What charges did these clients have that they required waivers?

Adelaide replied 5 years ago   #36

Wow, how long did the 2nd waiver person wait before applying? That's insanely fast AND a 5 year to boot!

Waivers in today:

Dec 18 handed in - 5 year waiver March 18 (5th waiver)

February 5 handed in - March 11 waiver granted 5 year (1st time waiver)

Obviously all over the map.

@ John, that was really a clear explanation and because of what you have written it make sense now to me and perhaps other readers here too, why some gets their US entry waiver much faster compare to others. Thanks, you are definetely an authority when it comes to this subject matter.

@Sonnie

Here is a bit more accurate information.

When a waiver is "easily" approved and does not need to go a 'secondary security check' it is pretty quick. But if you fall under one of these categories, it gets kicked into a secondary check

-they need more documentation
-they need someone at a supervisory position to approve it
-the offence is one they have flagged for needing further approval
-they are recommending it be denied
-there are further security checks needed because of the country of origin of applicant or relatives country of origin

Never give up on a waiver application and file another. There is ALWAYS an answer. Rejections come by registered mail now. Approvals come by regular mail.

I have never had a client who simply "gave up" and filed again. Why? You would just get the exact same result...a long delay and you just paid another $585.

Once you hit about 120 days and no answer it is either lost in the mail (small chance) or has been kicked to a supervisor. The supervisor/secondary is NOT fast. This is probably because of volume, plus the fact that none of the applications that reach them are "easy".

@ HatsBootsHatsBoots, Thank you very much for your very professional and civil response. You earned my trust & respect.

Sonnie replied 5 years ago   #31

@ Sonnie

I second that. Waivers sometimes take long to be approved. It's not a denial if you haven't received it past 150 days. It's usually because something gets lost in the mail, background checks or important documents are missing. However, 2 years is excessively long, past 2 years I usually advise to redo the waiver. I can surely say that everybody who hasn't committed murder or terrorism can get a waiver approved as long as enough time has passed since the offence and enough remorse is shown.

Inquiring past 150 days through email is necessary to know if the ARO has received the waiver application. Before 150 days is not a good idea because they won't reply and this might delay the waiver further.

HatsBootsHatsBoots replied 5 years ago   #30

Sonnie ,that is 100% FASLE so please don’t start silly rumours like that.My first waiver took TWO YEARS....my second 44 days!

Canada1982 replied 5 years ago   #29

@ ok John, I will give it a little more time. But I think that when an application went pass 150 days, its a denial verdict.

Sonnie replied 5 years ago   #28

Wait until April 1st then try again.

John Rogers replied 5 years ago   #27

John
The last and third time that I sent the inquiry was on March 19th 2019

Hurricanedave replied 5 years ago   #26

@Hurricane Dave that is the correct email. No response at all? When did you last inquire?

@Sonnie its not an exact science. The results may not be linear. Give it more time.

John Rogers replied 5 years ago   #25

@ John, ok copy, thank you. I submitted mine Dec. 05, 2018, should I worry now? cuz people here in the forum are getting their waiver so it seems.

Sonnie replied 5 years ago   #24

John Rogers, the email that I’m inquiring to is
Inquiry.waiver.aro@dhs.gov

Hurricane dave replied 5 years ago   #23

@Sonnie there is ALWAYS a decision. The denial letters in 2019 are quite detailed. They come registered mail.

Time can vary but USUALLY it takes close to a year if you are denied. Its just a guideline.

John Rogers replied 5 years ago   #22

If ARO did not approve one's I192 US non immigrant waiver application, will they (ARO) still send the applicant a letter informing the applicant about their denial decision. How many weeks/months on average does an applicant get such letter from the time of the application.

Thanks forum members.

Sonnie replied 5 years ago   #21

@Hurricane dave. This is NOT normal.

What email are you using?

John Rogers replied 5 years ago   #20

I’ve been 10 months since my application and they won’t reply to my status inquiry email. Is this normal?

Hurricane dave replied 5 years ago   #19

@KenScott

Well, there is a big difference between 30 and 90 days. You don't know the difference between 30 and 90? Also, the 3 and 9 are far apart on the keyboard...so just wondering how it could be an error.LOL

Apparently YOU missed it. No comment from you. You rebut everything else. What happened?
