Waiver application processing times

Got your I-194?

Reply here with how long it took. Months, weeks, days...

Replies (recent first):

Hello all,

Applied for my waiver the first week of May at Lewiston-Queenston and received a five year waiver the week of August 14.

This is my third waiver. I previously received a three year and a five year. This is the first time I did all the work myself and didn't use a company.

Ok, since we have some lawyers here, can someone confirm whether this is true or not?

At a recent liaison meeting between AILA and the CBP Office of Field Operations, CBP’s ARO announced a significant change in practice.

Beginning in January 2017, the ARO will approve all I-192 waivers – initial waivers and renewals – for a 5 year period, with limited exceptions.
For individuals with waivers pending for over 1 year, the ARO will issue a decision within 40-60 business days after receiving a follow-up inquiry from the applicant or attorney of record.

It would be a great help if someone can verify this!
Thanks

Are they replying to your email? Saying its still pending? 19 months is very very long. Is this your first waiver?

JOHN ROGERS replied 6 years ago   #679

I am now at 19 months.... and waiting... as of September 1

metoo replied 6 years ago   #678

So happy I didn't marry a lawyer lol! I couldn't even imagine!

Bunches99 replied 6 years ago   #677

I am finding 4.5 months is the norm right now for my clients. I have exceptions in terms of faster or slower, but I have a lot of waivers in the pipeline and find 4.5 months is pretty accurate.

Remember though that the end of August, and December tend to be slower times. If you are at 4.5 months now wait until September 15th then email.

@bunches99 thanks for ur posts, Totally agree with u.

Ok that is fine everyone is already chilled out here Bunches99. Point is that this thread is kinda pointless since they can take as long as they want. We cant do anything about it by cry and wait. Yeah the average is 4-5 months that is cool. But what happens when it takes longer? I suppose though it is good if ya want to vent ya frustrations on how long they take then it could be good. I have learned patience dealing with these people.

Anyway I like free service and if someone in the industry is really willing to give free information that is real and legit and I can put it to use well I got no problem with it!!! We all just want our waivers and that is the end of the subject!

SEAN G replied 6 years ago   #674

No one said they can't take as long as they want. We simply go by the average amount of time it takes forum members to get theirs. Chill out!

Honestly Jill I emailed and they replied said pending 2 weeks later emailed again and they replied and said it was in the mail. I don't believe asking makes them upset or delay. Go ahead and very politely email them. Worst they say is it's pending. Atleast you will know that they actually have it and are working on it.

Bunches99 replied 6 years ago   #673

Ken is right that the Aro can take as long as they want. My waiver has been pending for 8 months and it was for a robbery I did when i was 20. It not like I call up the aro and yell at them. cmon people wakeup! This is also my second waiver to. I emailed them and pretty much got the same reply that it takes time to process. I think we should stay focused on the topic of the forum. Seems to me that Ken has only offered to help and has not asked for a penny. I frankly like that since i dont like lawyers either but I am glad that we can get free professional help. So lets stay focused on the issue instead of going off track

SEAN G replied 6 years ago   #672

Ummm you guys do not have to listen to me...I really don't care...You can do what you want. I am only here to help and provide free assistance if wanted. .You actually don't know what I want. What I really want is that I don't want you guys getting jammed up...I see it way too many times and I am in a FB group for waiver companies that essentially look out for consumers. So it is not spam. Bottom line is that they will take as long as they want...no matter what anyone says here to include myself. It is pure common sense. BTW...So if CBP takes 6 months to process your case and you get approved or denied...Are you going to sue them in court since they went over the "4 month rule"...smh

K SCOTT replied 6 years ago   #671

Thanks bunches99, I don't think anyone is paying attention to k Scott we all know what he wants. I am afraid to contact aro as I've heard it be delay the waiver

Jill1 replied 6 years ago   #670

Oh my gosh. This forum was so great before these lawyers started with their spam. We all get what eachother mean. We obviously read the same emails you read because we email aro directly! If you start at page 1 you will see the norm is 4 months right now.

Jill have you emailed them?

Bunches99 replied 6 years ago   #669

Ok well I guess that is forum chat. Anyway, there is still no set processing timetable for processing a waiver by CBP. We used to tell people 3-9 months...Now with Trump in office we are telling people 6 to 12 months. Check out the link below with your laptop. It is an email from the AROthat was recently sent to one of our clients. It states that there is no time limit for processing a case. The lucky ones get it in 4 months or so.

A May waiver is one that was applied for in the month of May. The same way that an April waiver was a waiver that was applied for in the month of April. It's just a term we use here on the forum.

And although there is no set timetable to process Ken, processing times currently average four and a half months.

I applied for my waiver in May and received it August 1st. This was my 4th waiver, and it's the fastest I've ever received it. My past applications have all taken about five and a half months.

What is a May waiver? The ARO has no set timetable to process a waiver? They process it and take as long as they see fit. I think there is a myth circling the internet about the ARO can only take a limited amount of time to process a waiver. They take as long as they want since it falls under the national security umbrella...and esp with Trump in office. Plus some offences take longer to process than others.

Check out the link from the ARO explaining processing times. You may have to use a laptop to view it better if it not clear on a phone.

So far I have only heard of 2 May waivers. Does that mean that the aro is late processing May waivers?

Jill replied 6 years ago   #665

It is one of their blanket replies. It essentially means what it says...They are basically saying they will come to a decision when they are ready. It was like I said on the forum before...There is no set timeframe for the ARO to reply...They basically take as long as they want...as opposed to someone else saying that they will approve all waivers in 4-5 months. Unfortunately, you will have to wait for them to get back to you. Also, it depends on what type of offences that you have too. Ken 604 332-9213

I got response from ARO : What is the meaning of this statement.

Your application was received and is being processed.
Due to the individual circumstances of each waiver application, there is not a set timeframe to give as to when an application decision will be completed.

Waiver filed at Blaine,WA on Feb 5 th2017.
Not yet received.
