@Masolo Thanks for the update! That's great news!! Can you tell us if this is your first waiver and how long they gave you? It appears many applications (even first time) are now getting 5yr waivers.

I received my waiver today. I applied at Toronto Pearson on Feb 18, 2017. I'm so happy. I will be going to Buffalo on the weekend.

Coming up on 2 years for me. I applied July 2015, heard back in September about requiring me to do a medical with a specified physician which I successfully completed in January 2016. Still waiting, standard responses from ARO

Applied first week in January and nothing yet. First time waiver

Kal replied 6 years ago   #579

Applied In Jan and still nothing recieved yet. I sent an email and received an auto response that said, "pending secondary security checks". Hoping it comes soon, as I want to go on a vacation!

@eds Yes, it does seem processing has slowed based on the the traffic on this forum. Still looking for other waiver receipts that have been submitted in February. So far I see one, received by @Debbie who applied on February 4th.

Is it just me or has waiver processing time slowed down in the past month?

eds replied 6 years ago   #576

@zoe So does mine, I'm taking it to mean that a hit occurred in the fingerprint database so FBI etc checks are necessary but they don't have these results back yet. Could be in a long list of checks

eve replied 6 years ago   #575

Mine also says pending results of necessary secondary security checks, does anyone know what this means

@Coocoo,

I received an email from ARO advising that a RFE has been sent to me by mail last week. What kind of information did they request on the RFE? I also want know which lawyer you used. I filled out the application myself. My email is zalapauser@yahoo.ca.

Thanks

zalapauser replied 6 years ago   #573

I just received my first waiver today valid for one year! I did use a lawyer because my case was a bit complicated. I apply on Dec 11 2016 and received a RFE on May 10 and got approved today. For those who are still waiting stay positive your turn will come.

CooCoo replied 6 years ago   #572

Just got replied back by email say result pending for secondary security check ?
What's does that mean its my 3rd waiver applied in Dec 3rd 2016 over 6 or 7 months now ?

Thank you @Debbie, I think the fact that it was over 25yrs ago was certainly in your favor. Sounds like a sister from hell you have there which didn't help. I applied at Lewiston Bridge in Nov/16. My charges were 10 yrs ago, but drug related and more serious. This is my first application so my sense is it's stuck in security checks. With all that's going on right now in the US I'm sure it's in a big pile.

eve replied 6 years ago   #570

Has anyone else who applied in February received their waiver? I applied the same day as @Debbie but in Niagara and have not received any word yet.

Knx83 replied 6 years ago   #569

@eve.. When and where did you apply? I was charged 25 yrs ago with impersonation with intent and obstruct justice.. I used my sisters name when I got pulled over, thinking my licence was suspended, and she charged me as well as the police for lying to them... arghhh

Debbie replied 6 years ago   #568

Congrats @Debbie, wish I could say the same. Coming up to the 7 month mark and nothing in sight. Seems the longer it takes the more likely it will be declined.

Can you share what reason you were not admissible for?

eve replied 6 years ago   #567

@BeesNest
Thank you for this link it was very helpful
Yes they wanted to confiscate my phone I was crying a lot so I guess they felt a bit bad .
It was very early in the monrning around 6 am when I got there I wasent prepared for 6 hour wait whiteout water or food .
There's real criminals out there that they let enter the states . I also remember the officers were all high fiveing each other like they caught a huge criminal .

@Tara Torontoo
Unfortunately you were the victim of a blatant abuse of power and it would seem a fairly high amount of sexism given your account of the treatment you received. No one should have to go through that. I fear both you and @GTA are correct, what's done is done and there is no way of getting out of the 'your word against theirs' position you are in.

Take a look at the following article published on the Global News website.
http://globalnews.ca/news/3487231/us-border-password-searches/

Clearly, this type of harassment will only continue.

I have a serious issue with putting this kind of power in the hands of power thirsty border guards who are not adequately trained in abusive, sexist and racist behavior.
